Joan Vennochi

Mitt Romney’s family card

Mitt Romney’s family is back to playing a starring role in his campaign, as Romney tries to lure Iowa voters with this pitch: “My family is better than Newt Gingrich’s family.’’ Romney’s latest effort comes via an ad that features his wife and children to illustrate his contention that he’s a man of constancy. But up until recently, Team Romney was telling the press the Romney clan would be less visible than it was in 2008. Then Gingrich surged.

ya vennochi, why talk about CHARACTER in a national race. start at home in this formerly once great city and state. CHARACTER really counts and matters around suffolk county. i mean if people like menino, patrick, murray(both of them), deleo, an entire legislature, an auditor and treasurer, and oh ya , a city council, all 13 of them can get and stay elected, i can see how important the word CHARACTER is to leadership and electability. ma

How many more Romney's articles are you going to write over the course of 11 months. Joan, Don't forget Scott Brown, he's running again, remember him, he took the "Kennedy" seat.

How ironic, that a candidate who walks the walk in his personal life is lampooned for it. The left wing can support the most evil people if they are sufficiently liberal. Romney's character and his life are just a few reason he is a good candidate. Do not lampoon him for his real life virtue, Joan. It makes you look small.

Stacking up all the Clinton/Obama microbe ridden lifestyles and diseased relationships against the prayer wall of Americans who look to any other candidate as a healthy alternative for America and Micky Mouse would look great. We elected a president who doesn't know how many states there are, worshipped with his "God Damning" pastor and was best friends with an old terrorist in Chicago. How could either Romney or Gingrich top that? Joan finds it interesting to point out the flaws of style and family of these honest, decent men. Shame on anyone who reads this tripe and lets it tarnish their images.

Governor Romney has demonstrated time and again that he will say or do anything to be President. Perhaps his wife knows who the real Mitt Romney is, but I doubt anyone else can be sure of what they're getting with this chameleon. With regard to the allegations by other posters of liberal bias at the BG, have you perused the Herald lately or watched Fox News? Also, Mr Arnold, if you're going to post incessantly, please give punctuation, capitalization, and spell check a try. More people will read your posts with their incisive insights into Mayor Menino. Thank you!

I would rather vote for someone who stayed at the side of his ill wife than someone who told wife #2 that he was dumping her while she was in the hospital being treated for breast cancer- Newt has the morals of a skunk What I also find fascinating is that Ms Vennochi has no problem with the moral standards of the Kennedys & Newt Geinrich but appears to have issues with the Romneys-

Playing the Family Card is fair. You use what you have. Obama's wife and children were a great contrast to the enabler-Hillary to the philanderer-in-Chief-Bill Clinton. Heck, even liberals are values voters, in their own peculiar way. Of course, it would have been nice if they vetted Obama's leadership and executive abilities, before fawning over him and giving him the nomination, but that's a story for another day.

All's fair in politics, however distasteful.
