Zack Hample has made it his mission to catch baseballs, more than 6,000 of them, at major league baseball parks.

Hample recently failed in his attempt to catch a ball released from a helicopter 1,000 feet above him at LeLacheur Park in Lowell.

But Hample is normally found in places like Fenway Park angling for baseballs thrown or hit into the stands.

Hample has eight barrels full of balls in his mother's apartment, souvenirs of what he has caught over the years.

Hample played baseball in college, but ended up content with his role in the stands. Said Hample, “I put on a good show, don’t I?”
