Scott Brown calls on Akin to drop out of Mo. Senate race

In a rare intra-party rebuke, Senator Scott Brown called on Representative Todd Akin, of Missouri, on Monday to withdraw from the US Senate race in his state, after Akin suggested that women’s bodies can somehow prevent pregnancy in cases of rape.

Brown was among the first prominent Republicans to call for Akin to end his Senate bid. In doing so, Brown jumped ahead of the issue before his opponent, Elizabeth Warren, and fellow Democrats began a concerted effort to tie him to the controversy.

Looks like Brownie is trying to distance himself from republickin' mainstream thought!

As an Independent former Republican I am not voting for him. He is trying to play both sides on many very important issues especially women's issues. I am tired of these two Mass Republicans Romeny & Brown being contstant flip-floppers on important issues. And this is just the latest one!!!

Senator Brown, that's a proper move on your part. Please be committed to calling for his withdrawal from a Senate campaign. Akin is 'out there' and he's clearly not qualified to act on behalf of any American via his US House or Senate seat. I'll be extremely disappointed if there's not a recall vote on this guy for his current seat. I long to hear his statement defining his resignation from the House.

According to the Democratic polling firm Public Policy Polling, incumbent Senator Scott Brown (R-MA) has opened a significant lead on Warren, 49-44. That's the first lead PPP has shown since June 2011.
