Lynn mother charged with hitting girl, 6

A Lynn mother was arrested and charged with two counts of assault and battery after striking her child in the face for bringing the wrong shoes to school, police said. On Nov. 14, Rosilda Lopez, 28, was asked to bring sneakers for her 6-year-old daughter to the Drewicz Elementary School, said Lieutenant Chris Kelly of Lynn police. The girl was called to the office to meet her mother, who was upset she had to go to the school and bring the shoes, and was struck in the face twice by Lopez, he said. Lopez pleaded not guilty Thursday, at her arraignment in Lynn District Court, the Essex district attorney’s office said.
