House GOP puts off vote on ‘Plan B’

WASHINGTON (AP) — Confronted with a revolt among the rank and file, House Republicans abruptly put off a vote Thursday night on legislation allowing tax rates to rise for households earning $1 million and up, complicating attempts to avoid a year-end ‘‘fiscal cliff’’ that threatens to send the economy into recession.

In a brief statement, House Speaker John Boehner said the bill ‘‘did not have sufficient support from our members to pass.’’ At the same time he challenged President Barack Obama and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., to work on legislation to avert the fiscal cliff.

Comments

Barack Obama queered the discussions when he bragged twice that John Boehner CONCEDED that tax rates on the Rich must go up. That showed that Obama's real aim is just to bash Republicans. SORRY, Barry. The GOP didn't "Concede". YOU own the economy now.

No.  It was a fact.  Boehner did concede that tax rates on the rich had to go up.  I do realize the truth and the GOP have little in common, but you're just a bit too brazen.

Wow Miker Boehner loses control of the House and its Obama's fault.  That's not what other Republican's are saying, to just list some of the quotes, "embarrassing", "sad", "America deserves better".  We know who took the speaker down, the TP's and you won't get moderate R's back until you dump those clowns.  My apologies if you're a TP guy but other R's are right, "sad for the country".

Well The Tea Baggies in the Republican controlled House have revolted against passing a bill that is commonly understood to be DOA in the Senate.  If I understand this correctly this is "Bad for Boehner".  If it passed, it still would have been DOA in the Senate, but "Good for Boehner".  Conclusion, whether its "Good " or "Bad for Boehner," its not going anywhere.  How is this anything but the "Green Weenie" to America this Christmas from the dud studs of Tea Bag Nation?

Clearly the election results mean nothing to the tyrannical GOP lunatics.  If we slide off the fiscal cliff the blame lies solely with the Republican extremists that control that sad excuse for a political party.
