113th Congress

In Massachusetts delegation, a changing of the guard

WASHINGTON — Elizabeth Warren arrived at the Capitol on Thursday morning carrying a black L.L. Bean backpack in the manner of a student in one of her former Harvard classes. Inside was her treasured, tattered King James Bible, used since third grade and chosen for her Senate swearing-in.

“I know people come with big fancy family Bibles,” Warren said in an interview before her induction. “Mine’s a little more modest.”

A new low perhaps. I still can't believe an inexperienced newcomer gets elected because of a great uncle who was president. A man who would be shocked at how the Democrats have become the party of welfare and entitlement.

Shock is a great word for today. Sadness is also a good title for tis edition of "As The Globe Readers Turn!" The Republicans are without blame, apparently.

A new era? Same old, same old as far as I can see.

Yes a really New Era - a liberal Kennedy elected to Washington with no poltical experience - that has never happened before has it ?

Hopefully these events will be the beginning of the end for Massachusetts firms in the financial services industry like STATE STREET Corporation (STT) of 3 Lincoln Street (617)786-3000 and its current CEO Jay Hooley along with his counterpart at JP MORGAN CHASE "betting against America" and specifically Massachusetts by sending thousands of Massachusetts Financial Serives jobs from North Quincy and Boston to INDIA in Joint Ventures with firms like SYNTEL CORP of TROY MI.

The First Cherokee Senator!  Why isn't that being celebrated ???

As a Sen Brown mouthpiece aren't you starting a little early?  If she is the first Cherokee Senator, besides being the first woman Senator from Massachusetts, a state that has brought decent services to its citizens with the highest educated population in the US, we have much to be proud of.  Thanks for ironically adding to the accolades Sen Warren deservedly achieved.

What is half of 1/32nd?  Wasn't the general belief that Senator Granny's Indian ancestry was only 1/2 Cherokee, the other half Apaloosa or some such tribe?

new era -2 ultra liberals from MA?

If it had been a Republican that lied about his/her ethnicity in order to benefit from affirmative action what would all of your reactions have been?

Two apprentices getting ready to think they can act at least as strongly and wrongly as journeymen. . . Neither one of them ever held an elective office in their individual lifetimes, but the Massachusetts Suckerate gave each enough votes to go play with the other membes of the most hated institution in America, the U.S. Congress.  Is that an ego trip or just a fat headed idiocy?
