BOSTON (AP) — The deputy campaign finance director for former U.S. Sen. Scott Brown has been elected leader of the Massachusetts Republican Party.

Party spokesman Tim Buckley said the state committee vote Thursday for Kirsten Hughes was close. She won the party chair position by only two votes — 41 to 39 — over Pepperell businessman Rick Green.
