Boston and the city’s ­response to the recent blizzard, were in the national spotlight Friday as the “Today” show broadcast from Faneuil Hall.

The show’s longtime anchor, Matt Lauer, applauded the mayor for the way the city handled the massive storm, one that Lauer , adopting his best Boston accent, said “hammahed’’ the city.
