Approximately 130 soldiers from the 972nd Military Police Company returned to the joyous cheers of friends and family at Camp Curtis Guild in Reading on May 2, 2013 after a nine-month mobilization in Qatar to perform force protection missions in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. This is the third overseas deployment of the 972nd since 9/11/2001. The unit previously deployed to Uzbekistan and Pakistan in 2002-2003, and to Iraq in 2007-2008. The unit also performed security support at Logan International Airport in 2001-2002; security support for the Democratic National Convention in Boston in 2004; and soldiers of the 972nd served in Louisiana during Hurricane Katrina response operations in 2005.
