Undated photo: An aerial view of Boston before construction of the Central Artery looking from south to north. The present day Pine Street Inn building can be seen tin the lower middle of the photo. Originally that building was Fire Department Headquarters until 1951. The building was modeled after the Palazzo Vecchio in Florence, Italy and the Pilgrim Monument in Provincetown, MA, and featured a tall drill tower that was used for training fire department recruits.
