A new poll released today, less than a week before the preliminary election for mayor of Boston, found City Councilor John R. Connolly leading the eleven other candidates, with State Representative Martin J. Walsh and former city housing chief Charlotte Golar Richie trailing him by a small margin.

The poll, conducted by the MassINC Polling Group for WBUR, found 15 percent of likely voters backing Connolly, 12 percent choosing Walsh, and 10 percent going for Golar Richie.

Eight percent said they would vote for Suffolk District Attorney Daniel F. Conley, the same percentage that said they would back City Councilor Felix Arroyo.

The poll, which surveyed 487 likely voters from Sept. 14-16 by landline and cell phone, found six percent backing City Councilor Michael P. Ross and five percent backing City Councilor Rob Consalvo.

The rest of the candidates received under five percent support in the poll, which had a margin of error of plus or minus 4.4 percent.

Nineteen percent of those polled said they were undecided in the race.
