How Massachusetts schools compare

The highs and lows of the state’s districts, from the Globe’s free e-book.

Curious how your community compares with neighboring cities and towns? Here are the highest- and lowest-ranked school districts in Massachusetts in three categories (vocational and charter schools are considered separate districts). The numbers are the most recent available from the state Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.

To see the ranking of every school district in the state, check out the Globe’s newest e-book, Massachusetts by the Numbers, free to subscribers. In addition to school rankings, this e-book offers community-by-community comparisons in vital categories ranging from housing to transportation and on lighter topics such as amount of green space, bike lane miles, and number of dog bites.
