Driver killed in Lynn crash

A Chevrolet Prizm driving out of Lynn crashed head-on with a commercial truck around 11:15 a.m. today, killing the car’s driver and forcing the closure of Lynnfield Street for several hours, according to Lynn Police.

Police have not released the name of the driver, who was killed after the car was crushed by the truck at the corner of Lynnfield Street and Colonial Avenue. The truck driver had no serious injuries, said Lynn Police Lieutenant Richard Donnelly.

Donnelly said that both speed and the weather may have been factors in the fatal crash.

“The car appears to have been going too fast for the weather conditions,” Donnelly said. “The crash is still under investigation, and we haven’t ruled anything out.”
