MELANCHOLIA ★★
(Comcast Movies: All Movies) Lars von Trier delivers his most lifeless ode to cosmic misery yet, despite Kirsten Dunst’s valiant performance. Gorgeous visuals, disastrous weddings, and a planet about to collide with Earth: Some call it Art. I say it’s spinach and I say the hell with it. (R; runs through Dec. 19) TY BURR
CHASING PAPI ★★ ½
(HBO on Comcast) Linda Mendoza’s overwritten but crowd-pleasing romantic comedy concerns three different types of women (Sofia Veraga, Rosyln Sanchez, Jaci Velasquez) who bond after they discover they’re in love with the same man. It’s set in that uncharted territory between lesser magic realism and mid-period “Ricki Lake.’’ (PG; runs through Dec. 19) WESLEY MORRIS

SNEAKERS ★★★
(Max on Comcast) Lots of mostly sprightly smoke-and-mirrors games in the comic spy movie, and a return to form by Robert Redford, who brings relaxed playfulness to his role as a computer hacker and fugitive leader of a bunch of eccentric techno-wizards trying to beat the bad guys to a black box. More than anything else, it’s a valentine to the ’60s from Phil Alden Robinson, whose weakness for the quirky and the funky is endearing. (PG-13; runs through Dec. 15)
