Reviews of recent classical music CDs, including Beethoven: Complete string quartets Artemis Quartet, 7 CDs (Virgin Classics) . Like so many quartets before and since, the Artemis came together over Beethoven. Its four original members first played together as students in 1989 to play Beethoven’s Quartet in C-sharp minor, op. 131, in a quartet seminar led by Walter Levin, legendary violinist of the LaSalle Quartet. Twenty-two years later, the Berlin-based Artemis has established a major career for itself.
