Shea Rose is a local R&B singer to keep an eye on


Recently crowned the R&B/soul/urban contemporary artist of the year at the Boston Music Awards, Shea Rose is something we rarely see around here: a dynamo who is equally at home in hip-hop, funk, rock, and soul. The proof is in the Berklee student’s mixtape, “Little Warrior,’’ which you can download for free from Rose’s website ( With local accolades piling up, Rose, who’s fond of calling herself “the female Lenny Kravitz meets Lauryn Hill,’’ is set to have an eventful 2012, starting with a show at the Middle East Downstairs on Jan. 14.
