Shea Rose is a local R&B singer to keep an eye on

Recently crowned the R&B/soul/urban contemporary artist of the year at the Boston Music Awards, Shea Rose is something we rarely see around here: a dynamo who is equally at home in hip-hop, funk, rock, and soul. The proof is in the Berklee student’s mixtape, “Little Warrior,’’ which you can download for free from Rose’s website (www.shearose.com). With local accolades piling up, Rose, who’s fond of calling herself “the female Lenny Kravitz meets Lauryn Hill,’’ is set to have an eventful 2012, starting with a show at the Middle East Downstairs on Jan. 14.
