(Comcast Movies: Free Movies) Soccer moms, start your minivans. Director Gurinder Chadha’s cross-cultural comedy falls into the genre pioneered by “The Full Monty’’ and “Billy Elliot’’ - it’s predictable but extremely charming. The lithe, moody Parminder K. Nagra plays a Sikh teenager in London whose love of the game leads her to play for a local women’s team, to her traditional family’s horror. (PG-13; runs trough Jan. 16) TY BURR


(HBO on Comcast) Officially, this is a Meryl Streep movie. As a well-to-do baker and businesswoman having an affair with her married ex-husband (Alec Baldwin), Streep deploys all her best moves. But Baldwin’s gusto comes as a shock. He doesn’t steal the movie from her so much as counterpunch with charisma. Written and directed by Nancy Meyers. (R; runs through Jan. 29)

(HBO on Comcast) Eric Bana plays a man afflicted with “chrono-impermanence,’’ meaning he bounces back and forth between moments in his own life. It’s hell on a relationship, but his wife (Rachel McAdams) bears up with a beatific smile. An effective tearjerker, but the film’s extreme tenderness leads mostly to dullness.
