Baroque ensemble Europa Galante storms Sanders Theatre

Europa Galante has for the past two decades been trying to breathe some fresh air into the Italian Baroque repertoire. But The group’s Boston Early Music Festival appearance at Sanders Theatre Sunday afternoon felt tight and constricted. The centerpiece of the “New Faces and Old’’ program was Bach’s Double Violin Concerto; the soloists sounded thin and wiry. They didn’t stand out from the rest of the ensemble, and their dramatic accents seemed artificial.
