Die Antwoord delivers edgy show at Paradise

In one instance at the Paradise Rock Club Friday night, Yo-landi Vi$$er, the rapper in the white South African trio Die Antwoord, lifted her oversize white t-shirt and clutched her apparently bare breast. Both sexes in the sold-out crowd roared like it was the fulfillment of their transgressive dreams. Even so, the moment suggested how the crew’s vulgar concoction of underground art and street culture, which purposefully mixes the titillating with the repulsive, could result in a show that was unexpectedly uplifting in more ways than one.
