Saxophonist Pete Robbins, an Andover native and New England Conservatory graduate, recorded his new album in concert at a jazz club in Switzerland with a quartet whose members come from the United States, Canada, Denmark, and Ireland. Together they create an aesthetic that values empathy over showmanship. Throughout much of ”Live in Basel,” the focus is squarely on the contrast between melody and rhythm.
