‘Global health in focus’ and ‘Recovery’ at Photographic Resource Center show beauty in ghastly truths
The exhibit “Global Health in Focus,’’ a wall label at Boston University’s Photographic Resource Center says, “aims to educate the New England community about . . . critical global health issues, utilizing photography to offer direct insight into the individuals and communities involved.’’ But does the very considerable beauty of these pictures work against communicating the urgency and pathos of their subject matter? This exhibit and another at the PRC, “Recovery,’’ pose powerful questions.
