Local chefs are James Beard finalists

Rialto chef Jody Adams has some celebrating to do. Yesterday she was named a James Beard Award semifinalist for outstanding chef, and her new restaurant, Trade, which she runs with business partners Sean Griffing and Eric Papachristos and executive chef Andrew Hebert, is on the short list of best new restaurants. Other semifinalists on the Beard lists include Flour’s Joanne Chang, Sofra’s Maura Kilpatrick, and Cheryl Maffei and Jonathan Stevens of Northampton’s Hungry Ghost Bread, who are on the list of outstanding pastry chefs. The Beard finalists will be announced March 19. . . . In other local restaurant news, East Coast Grill owner Chris Schlesinger has confirmed that he is selling his popular restaurant to his restaurant’s executive chef Jason Herd, general manager Robin Greenspan, and James Lozano. The transfer will be finalized this spring.
