Roxbury International Film Festival director Lisa Simmons was in Los Angeles over the weekend with Mario Van Peebles, whose new film “We the Party’’ screened in both Boston and LA on Saturday night. Peebles directed the film, which is described on the film festival website as a “dramedy about the first generation of high schoolers to come of age during the Obama years.’’ Van Peebles participated in the Boston event by being available for a Q&A via Skype. The dual screening was a partnership between the RIFF and the Pan African Film & Arts Festival.
