This is a lively and incisive adaptation of Aaron Fricke’s memoir about his 1980 battle for the right to bring a male date to his Rhode Island high school’s prom.

I have seen this play twice and it is absolutely *wonderful*! The message, from an incident that took place 30 years ago (!), is still current as nowhere near as much progress has been made during that time as one might hope. I am grateful that the message was brought to us by this incredibly talented and professional theater company as it makes the experience that much more believable and relevant given that the actors are the same age as the protagonists. I am especially grateful to Aaron Fricke for having the courage at such a young age in such a turbulent personal time in his life to insisting that his rights be upheld and for sharing his story with everyone who wishes to learn about it.
