Painted Burro brings Mexican fare to Davis Square

From stone grotesques to Day of the Dead skulls. Just opened in the Davis Square space that was formerly Gargoyles is Mexican restaurant the Painted Burro. It is a project of chef-owner Joe Cassinelli, who also operates Pizzeria Posto. Executive chef Dante Bua was previously at Mistral. The Painted Burro serves dishes from Baja, Oaxaca, Veracruz, and beyond. There are several versions of guacamole, 10 different tacos, main dishes such as vegetable enchiladas with mole verde, and more.
