“Celestial Music’’ gathers the pieces Rick Moody has written over the past decade into one sprawling volume. Most are long, discursive explorations of subjects unlikely to set the pop cultural hive abuzz. He devotes 65 pages to the relative virtues of man versus machine-made percussion. Another 50 are given over to the lurid allegations that Who guitarist Pete Townsend possessed child pornography.
