Dr. John’s latest a mix of past, present

Working with Dan Auerbach, the Black Keys guitarist and singer who produced this album, Dr. John has made his first masterpiece in a very long time. On top of Dr. John’s usual gumbo of R&B and blues, we get the voodoo psychedelia of his 1968 debut and the hard funk of his ’70s work.
