Friends School and journalists honor Shadid

WBUR’s Robin Young, “Frontline’’ managing editor Phil Bennett, and the former Globe foreign editor James Smith gathered at Cambridge Friends School this week to pay tribute to Anthony Shadid, the Pulitzer Prize-winning correspondent for The New York Times who died in February while on assignment in Syria. A believer in Quaker education, Shadid had planned to speak at CFS about his new book, “House of Stone: A Memoir of Home, Family, and a Lost Middle East.’’
