The deal: This Friday at 28 Degrees, join DJ Nathanael Bluhm in the South End for a mix of upbeat Top 40, house, and retro. “The type of music we play really depends on the crowd that night,” says Bill Emery, managing partner at 28 Degrees. The lounge and bar offers an outside patio, as well as a late-night bar menu until midnight on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. “Definitely come on a beautiful night. There are sofas, coffee tables on the patio; it’s like an outdoor living room,” says Emery.
Who goes there: Though 28 Degrees does not necessarily target a specific audience, Emery says most of the crowd tends to be young professionals. “It’s great because we get a great mix of people here. To an extent, there’s a gay crowd given that we’re in the South End, but we also get all types of people from the ages of 25 through their late 30s,” he says.
Expect to hear: “Dog Days Are Over,” Florence & the Machine; “Where Have You Been,” Rihanna; “We Are Young,” Fun.
The drink: “Our most popular cocktail is the frozen peach Bellini,” says Emery. 28 Degrees also offers specialty cocktails like a blueberry basil martini and a series of “picante” cocktails.
The tip: “It’s easiest to find a seat on the patio before 9:30 and after 11,” says Emery.
