Capturing a glorious feeling
Re: “Steppin’ Out: Gene Kelly, ‘Singin’ in the Rain’ ” (Movies, July 8): Mark Feeney’s piece perfectly evoked the memorable and delightful Gene Kelly, leading me to see again so clearly several treasured performances. Feeney nailed them, and him! Thank you for providing such an enjoyable morning.
Just read Feeney’s article on Gene Kelly and all I can say is, Yes, Yes, Yes!!! What a well-written article about one of Hollywood’s biggest and most enjoyable stars. It brought back a lot of fun memories. Thanks for that.
I read with enthusiasm Feeney’s appreciation of Gene Kelly and loved it all. He put into words everything that I’ve thought and felt about Gene Kelly’s work through the years, and did it with warmth and grace. A beautiful piece.
I never write comments on reviews, but just had to tell you how much I enjoyed Feeney’s piece on Gene Kelly. His outstanding writing elevated the oft-written comparisons of Kelly and Astaire to art.
I went to Netflix to order a round of Kelly films, especially ‘‘Singin’ in the Rain,’’ so I could once again experience that joy he so freely exudes in dance.
Gaining knowledge,
Frame by Frame
I like to think that I am a lifelong learner. Thanks to Sebastian Smee, I can say that is true.
I love his Frame by Frame stories. I love to go and look for all the details that he points out. I also like to visit his critic’s choices. They are always worth the trip.
Many thanks for the excellent and compelling work.
