Boss 9 p.m., Starz
Kelsey Grammer’s above-average political drama returns tonight for season two. He plays the corrupt, power-hungry mayor of Chicago, who has a neurological disease that’s getting worse. He’s up against a number of foes, including a newspaperman played by Troy Garity. I found the first season compelling in terms of the way political favors are made and broken, but it also felt kind of cold and clinical. Let’s see if there’s some more passion this time around.
Teachers Rock 8 p.m., Channel 4
Maybe I’ll watch, but first someone is going to have to promise me that I won’t have to watch my third grade teacher do a booty shake. This special is a tribute to educators, and it includes concert performances by Garth Brooks, Carrie Underwood, Dierks Bentley, and Josh Groban (pictured). Also on hand: Meryl Streep, Morgan Freeman, Matthew Morrison, and Viola Davis.
Sex and the City 9 p.m., E!
(What really should have been) the series finale.
King of Dirt 9 p.m., DIY
Harvey Levin? Perez Hilton? Chauncey Gardiner?
Bullet in the Face 10 p.m., IFC
Home, home on deranged.
