It’s that dead moment before fall TV kicks in. Are you desperate enough, or grossness-loving enough, or man or woman enough, to tune in for an episode in which Mike catches crocodiles for a group of scientists who study animal vomit, knowing full well that the odds are in favor of you seeing an HD image of crocodile puke?

Luther 9 p.m., BBC America

Wait, don’t get excited “Luther” and Idris Elba fans. I’m mentioning the show here because BBC America is reairing season 1, and I want to nod to the show for viewers who haven’t seen it but who like twisty and twisted thrillers. Here Comes Honey Boo Boo 10 p.m., TLC

There goes standards andards.

The Big Sleep 10 p.m. TCM

Fun fact: William Faulkner co-wrote.

The Real World: St. Thomas 10 p.m., MTV
