Ellen DeGeneres: The Mark Twain Prize 8 p.m., Channel 2

She has made viewers laugh with her stand-up act and her eponymous sitcom. She has dabbled in the movies (including an underrated turn in “EdTV”) and of course helms her sunshiney daily chatfest. For that, DeGeneres is being awarded the 15th Mark Twain Prize for American Humor. DeGeneres joins some heavyweight company, since past honorees include Richard Pryor, Bill Cosby, Steve Martin, George Carlin, Tina Fey, and Will Ferrell. Other funny folks will be on hand to help DeGeneres yuk it up, including fellow comic/talk show hosts Steve Harvey and Jimmy Kimmel, “The Office” star John Krasinski, former Mark Twain honoree Lily Tomlin, pop singer Jason Mraz, and “Will & Grace” star Sean Hayes.
