The Girl 6:25 p.m., HBO2
Gooooo-devening. Toby Jones’s take on Alfred Hitchcock will probably be forgotten, now that Anthony Hopkins’s big screen version has opened. And that is too bad, because he delivers a potent performance as Hitch in this small HBO movie. The focus of the plot is his increasingly sadistic obsession with Tippi Hedren (Sienna Miller, above with Jones) during the making of “The Birds.” Some have complained that the story isn’t true (Hedren stands by it). But Jones is remarkable nonetheless. His Truman Capote in “Infamous” was similarly overshadowed by Philip Seymour Hoffman in “Capote.”
