Academy of Country Music Awards 8 p.m., Channel 4

Blake Shelton (pictured) and Luke Bryan man up the proceedings as hosts of the 48th annual celebration of country music, live from Las Vegas. The schedule of performers includes a big chunk of the current Nashville A-list, including Jason Aldean, Kenny Chesney, Tim McGraw, Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood, Lady Antebellum, Hunter Hayes, Miranda Lambert, the Band Perry, and Brad Paisley. Pop star Kelly Clarkson also swings by. Eric Church leads the field of nominees with seven, thanks to his terrific 2011 release “Chief” and its hits like “Springsteen” and “Drink in My Hand.” One of the night’s highlights should come when George Strait and Garth Brooks, two titans of the genre, team up to pay tribute to Dick Clark.

Mad Men 9 p.m., AMC

The Emmy award-winning series returns for its sixth season with a two-hour opener that features a trip to paradise, a trip down the aisle, a couch trip, and one final trip.
