Critic’s corner: What’s on TV Wednesday

Locked Up Abroad 9 p.m., National Geographic

The series returns for season 7 with a look back at two American POWs during the Vietnam War. If you think one of them is Senator John McCain, you are correct. McCain, who was held for five years, joins Ernie Brace (pictured), who was captive for almost eight years, in recounting their stories. They were in adjoining cells and tapped messages through the wall. They first met face to face at a 1973 White House dinner for POWs months after they were released. “A guy came up to me, and I looked at him, and he said, ‘I’m Ernie Brace,’ ” McCain recalls. “I went ‘Wow.’ It was such an emotional moment for me.”
