Critic’s corner: What’s on TV Monday night

Reelz

Delete 8 p.m., Reelz

From some of the minds behind the different “Stargate” series comes this movie about computer revolution. That is, computers rising up in revolt after becoming self-aware. Of course, once they have achieved self-awareness they don’t just want to catch up on TV, they want to “destroy mankind!” The solution to this problem is to create a computer counter-agent with just as much artificial intelligence. Helping to stave off binary annihilation are “Robot Chicken” main man and “Buffy” alum Seth Green (pictured), Matt Frewer (ironically perhaps, since he was “Max Headroom”), Gil Bellows, and Keir Gilchrist. (Maybe if we all stopped getting crumbs in our keyboards our computers won’t turn on us in the future?)

So now that this “limited” series has turned out to be not-so-limited thanks to a second season pickup, does that mean the storytelling will be slowing down? It’s hard to imagine it going much slower. What started off with an intriguing premise has devolved into some repetitive storytelling with the crisscrossing turf wars. Maybe once we find out what that egg means we’ll start getting somewhere.
