Critic’s corner: What’s on TV Wednesday

    Guys Choice 2014 9 p.m., Spike

Who will take home the mantlers — the man antlers — this year? Spike knows exactly what all men across the country like, and it is going to tell us in the eighth annual awards ceremony. Among the winners: Matthew McConaughey, Mark Wahlberg, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, and Kevin Hart. Also, Sandra Bullock will be crowned with the “Decade of Hotness” award. Pictured (from left): McConaughey, Keanu Reeves, Hugh Grant, and Bullock.

    The Waltons 8 p.m., Hallmark

OK, OK, yes. It’s “The Waltons.” What’s wrong with spending an hour watching comfort food TV? There’s nothing better for the soul every now and then. And anyway, this particular episode has some hardcore cable cred. Called “The Wager,” from the post-peak “Waltons” year of 1979, it includes a guest performance by Jonathan Banks, the actor who killed it on “Breaking Bad” as Mike Ehrmantraut.
