High-tech engineering meets creative inspiration in Brookline artist Janet Echelman’s giant floating sculpture on the Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy Greenway. Here’s how it all adds up:

The sculpture includes more than 100 miles of rope.

In total, it weighs approximately 1 ton.

It will stretch across nearly half an acre.

Its longest span is 600 feet.

Its highest point will be 365 feet.

The sculpture is designed to withstand wind speeds of 105 m.p.h.

It uses high-tech rope that is eight times stronger than steel.

The longest single rope is approximately 270 feet.

It features more than half a million knots.

The sculpture will be illuminated by 32 individually programmed LED lights.
