Book tour: Hot summer literary destinations in New England

A reading tour of popular summer destinations in New England and the writers and books associated with those places. Among the stops is Maine. “Make Way for Ducklings” has such a presence in Boston that it’s easy to forget that Caldecott Medal-winner Robert McCloskey set four of his children’s stories in Maine, where he summered with his family. (The blueberry-picking Sal is his daughter, and her eat-as-you-pick style will feel familiar to many a parent.) Read the books in Maine or enjoy his gulls and foggy mornings from your own living room and simply feel as if you’re up north.
