LUCK: THE COMPLETE FIRST SEASON David Milch and Michael Mann collaborated on this HBO series about doings legal and otherwise at a California race track. Despite an impressive cast (Dustin Hoffman, Dennis Farina, Nick Nolte, Michael Gambon, Joan Allen), it does take a while to get going. The plotting manages to be both far-fetched and predictable.
