So bad they’re good: antiheroes

Martin Scorsese’s “The Wolf of Wall Street” has been criticized for glorifying bad boy Jordan Belfort, but a look at recent releases shows that this charismatic sociopath has a lot of company. There’s the sad sack philandering folkie in “Inside Llewyn Davis,” the charming chiselers in “American Hustle,” even Bilbo in “The Hobbit” is a bit seedy. These lovable bums draw on a movie tradition of protagonists who are picaros, scamps, and scoundrels. Here are five heroes you hate to love.
