The force found its way to “Monday Night Football.”
The latest trailer for the long-awaited “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” hit screens across America during the game between the New York Giants and the Philadelphia Eagles, broadcast on ESPN. Tickets for the movie, slated to open in the United States and Canada on Dec. 18, went on sale Monday, which fans have been anticipating since news of the sale was teased ahead of time on Twitter along with the new official movie poster. Two other teaser trailers came out earlier — the first last November and the second in April.
The film, directed by J.J. Abrams, continues the series created by George Lucas, and is set 30 years after “Star Wars: Episode VI — The Return of the Jedi” (1983).
‘‘The Force Awakens’’ is the first in the series since Disney acquired Lucasfilm Ltd. in 2012.
The movie’s cast includes Harrison Ford as Han Solo, Carrie Fisher as Leia, Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker, and Peter Mayhew as Chewbacca.
John Williams is back to score the film.
