Todd Rundgren makes a return trip to Utopia

Remarkable career brings him back with his reassembled prog-rock band

An interview with Todd Rundgren, who’s playing with most of the original line-up of Utopia at the Wilbur Theatre on Tuesday. Over 40 years, he’s had hit records - “Hello It’s Me,’’ originally recorded with Nazz in the late ‘60s, “I Saw the Light,’’ from his seminal 1973 solo LP “Something/Anything?’’, and “Bang the Drum All Day,’’ which remains in heavy rotation at sports arenas, are perhaps his best known songs - and he’s produced a remarkable number of albums for others.
