Kathleen Edwards proves vulnerable, nervy

This time last week, it wasn't entirely clear that Kathleen Edwards would make it to Royale. A bout of vocal strain forced the singer to postpone a handful of concerts, and Boston fans were left to cross their fingers. But show up she did, and Thursday night she covered the gamut from roots-rock with a Crazy Horse kick to quiet, fingerpicked folk. Even so, the disruption had definitely spooked Edwards. None of that is to say that Edwards spent her set falling apart.
