Dr. John brings electricity to Paradise show

To watch Dr. John walk onstage is to realize there’s a disconnect between his body and soul. Physically, he appears feeble at 71, unsmiling as he saunters toward the microphone. A few songs in, though, a gale force emerges from his gut and his fingers at the piano. That was the jarring juxtaposition on display at the Paradise Rock Club Wednesday night. The sold-out performance was as much about the electricity onstage as it was in the audience.
