SULTRY SUNDAYS AT RIVER GODS

Sundays at 8 p.m. 125 River St., Cambridge. Free. 21+. 617-576-1881, www.rivergodsonline.com

The deal: River Gods, a bar and restaurant near Central Square, launched its Sultry Sundays series last month as a perfect cap to a lazy weekend. “It’s a good place to go if you’ve spent the day at the beach,” says Bradford Krieger, River Gods’ entertainment promoter. The night’s DJs, perched in a booth overlooking the whole space, spin Latin soul, Cuban rhythms, and light jazz to fashion a smooth lounge mood. There’s not a lot of dancing; Krieger says people just soak in the laid-back atmosphere.

The DJs: The River Goddesses, a.k.a. Lonnie Stanton and Sarah Ginsburg.

Who goes there: “We get a lot of artsy types,” says Krieger. He attributes the crowd to the eclectic music selection at River Gods, which features live DJs every night of the week. “We don’t do any Top 40 nights,” he says.

Three songs you’ll hear: “Mambo Diablo” by Tito Puente, “I Wish You Love” by Joe Bataan, and “Israelites” by Desmond Dekker.

The drink: Golden Goddess: Gosling’s Gold Rum, amaretto, orange, and pineapple.

The tip: Just chill out and unwind. “It should be the last thing you do after relaxing all day,” says Krieger.
