Critic’s Corner: What’s on TV tonight

ERIK HEINILA

Leverage 8 p.m., TNT

Timothy Hutton (above) and his merry band of Robin Hoods return for another season of creatively righting corporate wrongs. In the first episode of season five, they leave Boston and head north to Alaska to investigate the evil deeds of an airline executive played by Cary Elwes. Princess Buttercup would surely disapprove.

Oprah Builds a Network
9 p.m., OWN

Apparently under the mistaken premise that if she built it they would come. This series purports to take a “candid” look at Oprah Winfrey’s triumphs and struggles as she tried to scale up her brand. But given that it was produced by Winfrey for her network, and the first part of this special — which aired last Sunday — wasn’t particularly revealing, we’re guessing that “candid” is a strong description. The good news for Winfrey, who admitted to not being fully committed to the network as her own daytime talk show was ending, is that since she has taken a firmer hand on the reins, ratings for OWN have been on the uptick.

Weren’t we supposed to be worried that he was going to be watching us?
