He has been Bruce Springsteen’s sideman in the E Street Band and Tony Soprano’s consigliere Silvio Dante on “The Sopranos.” He can currently be seen as witness-protected gangster Frank “the Fixer” Tagliano on the Net­flix original series “Lilyhammer” and heard as the host of the syndicated radio show Little Steven’s Underground Garage. He even popped into “American Idol” last season. We chatted with Steven Van Zandt on the eve of the arrival of Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band to Fenway Park for two shows Tuesday and Wednesday and a show at Gillette Stadium Saturday.

Q. Congratulations on 10 years of “The Underground Garage.” Did you envision hitting this milestone when you started?
