THROWED WITH GUEST ANDY ROURKE OF THE SMITHS
Middle East Downstairs, 472 Massachusetts Ave., Cambridge. Tickets: $10. 18+. 617-864-3278, www.mideastclub.com
The deal: Throwed, The Pill, and Rescue — three of Boston’s leading dance parties — are teaming up this Thursday to create a whopping indie-dance night, headlined by guest DJ Andy Rourke, ex-bassist for legendary Manchurian rock band the Smiths. “Since a Smiths reunion will probably never happen, [Rourke has gotten] into DJ’ing and spinning a whole bunch of stuff,” says Michael Marotta, co-DJ for the evening. Marotta says of the event’s hosts, “This is the first time we’ve all collaborated, it’s Boston’s indie parties coming together for one all-hands-on-deck, mega rock indie party.”

The DJs: DJ E-Marce and DJ Texas Mike, from Throwed; DJ Michael V. and DJ Ken, from The Pill; DJ Paul and DJ Jeralyn, from Rescue; and, of course, the man of the hour, Andy Rourke.
Who goes there: “It’s three separate scenes coming together,” Marotta explains. “Throwed is an 18+ party that caters more toward an indie crowd, The Pill is an older, more seasoned crowd of 20-somethings, and Rescue is a Sunday party for people looking to party it up on a long weekend.”
Three songs you’ll hear: From the guys of The Pill, expect everything from Brit-pop classics to modern electro-pop, specifically “Sulk” by Trust, “Heat Lightning” by Icky Blossoms, and “I Love It” by Icona Pop. From Andy Rourke, expect the unexpected. “I’m just as curious as you,” says Marotta.
